Soon after the arrival at Munich Airport we had a welcome beer in the Braeustueberl Weihenstephan. The brewery - a former monestary brewery dating back to 1040 - is now owned by the bavarian state. Weihenstephan is also home of the famous Faculty of Brewing, part of the Technical University Munich. In the restaurant we met Thomas Kriebler (second from left on the picture below) who arranged a tour through the modern brewery.
In the fermenting cellar with Thomas Kriebler and a brewmaster.
After the tour we drove to Weiden, a lovely town north of Ratisbone, and had dinner at the Braeuwirt-Brewpub in Weiden. The Brewpub is located in a historical building from 1540 and was opened in 1993.
